Title : Viafuge ® Pilot
Heading : Viafuge ® Pilot
Listing description : The smallest member of the scalable Viafuge® family, the Viafuge® Pilot has a 1.4 L bowl and can be optimized for specific applications with a flow rate up to 2,400 L/hr for batches up to 500 L.
Order : 1

Clean-in-Place / Sterilize-in-Place System

The Viafuge Pilot is designed for fast, gentle, small- to medium-scale cell harvesting and supernatant clarification. Capable of separating a wide variety of mammalian and insect cells with little to no damage, the Viafuge Pilot offers high purity results with undetectable cell concentrations in clarified supernatant.

  • Bowl capacity: 1.4 L
  • Flow rates up to 240 L/hr for batches up to 500 L
  • Footprint:
    • Centrifuge: 35.5 cm wide x 53.3 cm deep x 76.2 cm high ( 14” x 21” x 30”)
    • Cabinet: 40.6 cm wide x 40.6 cm deep x 76.2 cm high (16” x 16” x 30”)
  • Total weight ~ 136 kg (300 lbs)
  • Fully scalable to larger automated V12 models
  • Gentle cell harvesting and supernatant recovery
  • Improved product processing
Low-Shear Performance

The Viafuge Pilot’s unique design minimizes shear forces on cells, boasting a typical cell viability of 98% or higher and up to 98% yield.

Scalability

Processes developed on the Viafuge Pilot can be seamlessly scaled to the Viafuge V12.

Features
  • Bowl capacity: 1.4L
  • Flow rates up to 240 L/hr for batches up to 500 L
  • Variable speeds up to 10,000 x g
  • SIP optional
  • cGMP construction
  • ASME-rated designs available
  • Low-shear design
  • Flexible optimization
  • Optional Hazardous Duty (Class 1, Div 1, Group C and D)  and CE configurations are available
  • State-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in the United States
How It Works

Cells are concentrated at the bowl wall while clarified supernatant is continuously discharged throughout the separation process. Once the bowl fills with cell concentrate, a simple manifold system and concentrate pump is used to recover the cells without breaking containment. Subsequent cycles are performed for recovery of larger batch sizes.
